Online Seminar on Aerogels – 2020

16 – 18 September 2020

NEW – 2018 CONFERENCE VIDEO

The Online International Seminar on Aerogels is less than a week away! Check out this video of the 2018 conference.

ONLINE CONFERENCE UPDATE

The Fifth International Seminar on Aerogels has been postponed until September 2021 due to the global COVID-19 crisis. But, as they say in Hollywood: the show must go on! In its place we will organize an “Online Aerogel Seminar 2020″ on the original seminar dates (16-18 September, 2020) with selected oral presentations by video conference, online poster sessions accompanied by 1-2 minute videos for each poster, and webinars about various aerogel topics. The poster prize will be awarded as usual. Companies are invited to submit video materials about their new aerogel products for an industrial session.

CONFERENCE SCOPE

The aerogel community invites scientists, engineers, students, and industrial partners working with or interested in learning about aerogels to the premiere international conference on the subject. We welcome contributions on any and all topics related to aerogels including synthesis, characterization, and applications in various fields. Our growing community is eager to host contributions from all fields and from all over the world.

** DESIGN CONTEST **

CREATE A LOGO FOR “INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON AEROGELS”

Great event needs a great logo, right? And our “International Seminar of Aerogels” still does not have any! Let’s change that together!

We invite every aerogel researcher to participate in a design contest and create a logo for “International Seminar on Aerogels”! The best logo will be used in all media like websites and print, and make its author honored and famous ;-)
We invite individuals or teams to design a logo. We would like the logo to be eye-catchy and understandable for non-experts in aerogels. It must be an original work and must not be based on or derived from any third-party or copyrighted images.

The contest is two-stage:

  • First we preselect several best designs. At this stage we will evaluate relevance of the logo to the aerogel research, its originality and aesthetic quality.
  • Then the preselected designs go to the vote: the entire aerogel community will decide who will be the winner during the “Online International Seminar on Aerogels” in September! The author of the best logo will be acknowledged if his/her logo is chosen and will be granted a free participation in the Aerogel Seminar 2021 in Hamburg.

Please send us your logo designs by 10 September 2020.

A bit of technical details: as we would like to use the logo both in electronic and print media, the image must be a scalable vector version. It also should look great when used both in color and in grayscale. If you unsure how to create vector images, please go ahead with jpeg or pdf formats. It is totally okay for the first stage. If you are chosen as a winner, we will help you to create a high resolution vector graphics.

Put no limit on your creativity! We are excited to hear from you soon!

The oral presentations will be live streamed, and (if the authors agree) recorded and made available for an additional 24 hours for those who missed them because of time zone differences.

We ask poster authors for make 90 second video abstracts summarizing the most interesting facts of their posters. These videos will be posted on the Whova poster session app.

There will also be a series of online “coffee breaks” (likely topic specific) where we can meet and chat informally!
